Dea young,
I ghcload/copies of a letter to Le from Muriel of the mongkong and shanghai sunkin Corporation about the din-han kailuay mutērials Loan and the whinese cluim in respect of materiale requisitioned ut Hong Kong in 1941, together with a copy of a letter from our sabussy at Nanking on the latter subject.
I am asking muriel to come and see me to discuss the matter. You may however cure to know that we are advised that it would be legally impossible to earmark any part of a payment made by lils majesty's Goverment to a foreign government in favour of any particular creditor of that
¿overnment. If the Chinese Goverment agreed, tikt would of course be another story. The utmost we could do would I think we to remind the ulinėje Government of the bank'a interest in the cetvor and enquire whether they would aree to a "sot-01'1". I suppose Trecaury would have no objection to this, or to our enquiring from our subassy whether they have yet nude representations to the chinuse Goverment as requested in our despatch No. 558 or the 12th November 1947 (copied to Treasury under Foreign wffice reference 2.14245/2525/10 of the same date: gee also scott's letter to kiss Loughnane * 12275/152/10 of the 31st october Lust).
ne will keep you informed of developments.
